We’ve tried and tested steakhouses from some of our top UK stag destinations, and have come to the conclusion that these 5 tasty venues offer the very best in steakhouse cuisine, ideal for setting the pace on your big stag night. Tuck into a delicious t-bone steak, washed down with a frothy pint of lager, and get the evening going in style.

1. Hawksmoor Spitalfields, London

157a Commercial Street, E1 6BJ

This Spitalfields steakhouse only opened in 2006, but since then it’s taken London’s steak-loving world by storm. The top quality, excellent produce is cooked well, providing beef from renowned London butcher Ginger Pig. As well as a great attitude towards sides and accompaniments there’s also an impressive range of beef breeds – the standard Longhorn is always available but guest breeds include a range from Herefords to Lincoln Reds.

2. The Rythre Arms Steakhouse, York

Ryther Village, North Yorkshire, LS24 9EE

Rythre

The Rythre Arms has been the best place to eat steak in Yorkshire for over 25 years. The steakhouse is situated in a traditional old pub restaurant and serves the best locally sourced beef available, which is matured and butchered on the premises and ranges in size from the modest 6 ounce fillet to the whopping 38 ounce giant T-bone! Head chef Andrew Bennet cooks all dishes fresh to order, with an impressive range of home-made sauces to accompany your steak. Delicious.

3. Anderson’s, Birmingham

30 Mary Ann Street, St Pauls Square, B3 1RL

With locals and journalists alike loving this steakhouse haunt (indeed the Birmingham Mail testified, “My steak was a thing of beauty”) this West Midlands premier steakhouse has a fantastic range of top quality steaks. The menu uses the best local suppliers and produce, with beef from the award winning Alan Beck or Becky Butchers, and breeds including the Aberdeen Angus and Shorthorn (both of which are reared locally). The meat’s dry aged for a minimum of 31 days for maximum flavour and texture, and you wont find a better steakhouse in the area.

4. Hudson Steakhouse, Bath

14 London Street, Bath, BA1 5BU

hudson

As our local you’ll often find members of the StagWeb team tucking into a tasty steak with sea salt and black pepper fries. As such we can say without a doubt that this is the best steakhouse in Bath, if not in the South West. The steaks here are sourced from a farm assured cooperative in Staffordshire, featuring Angus and Limousin beef. All of this is served in a stylish conversion of a notorious Victorian pub, a place which has won the best restaurant award from three different publications. Not only that, but if you can handle a dessert after your generously-sized meal there’s also some great options, such as Fresh Raspberry Eton Mess and a Dark Chocolate Tart.

5. Steak, Edinburgh

14A Picardy Place, Edinburgh, EH1 3JT

As the name suggests this quality steakhouse is certainly a place for meat lovers, with their main mission being to provide the best steak in Edinburgh. The restaurant is centrally located in Picardy Place, and has tasty steak, wine, music and a great atmosphere. The place has a rustic feel, offering a full dining experience with great sharing platters, ideal for sharing with the whole group, as well as getting your own steak cooked to perfection at your table! The bespoke carving dishes are also cooked to order and carved right in front of you. Now that’s service.
