Horse racing stag do – enjoy a day at the races!

Horse racing is always a fantastic day out for any stag weekend and as race courses go they don’t get much better than York. The North’s premier race course offers groups a great summer stag activity with some of the countries best racing and a chance to win some spending money for the rest of your stag weekend.

With just six Saturday meetings throughout the year the races are always hugely popular and in great demand. Staying in York for the full horse racing stag weekend is always people’s first thought but is much harder than most might think. Unfortunately because the races are always so popular accommodation in York always sells out well in advance and the rates charged by the hotels are usually triple that of the standard rate.

The best way around this is to base yourselves outside of York and our recommendations for the best stag weekend locations are always Harrogate or Leeds. Both will offer groups a fantastic evening out, we can arrange private transfers to and from the races with entry tickets meaning you and the guys will still get the fantastic York race experience for your stag weekend but the value for money is much better.

Superb horse racing stag weekend packages are available in both, why not check out our fantastic Leeds stag weekend packages or Harrogate stag weekend packages here, alternatively let us know exactly what you want by creating a bespoke stag weekend package online now.

The best of Bratislava! Why it’s a stag heavyweight

The Slovakian capital, Bratislava, has been transformed into a stag heavyweight in 2011. Stag groups looking for an exciting city in Eastern Europe to host an unforgettable weekend are having their head’s turned from the tried and tested destinations like Prague, Budapest and Riga. Instead, places like Ljubljana, Tallinn and most recently Bratislava have become high on the stag destination radar.

Bratislava, first and foremost has an incredible nightlife. The bars and clubs stay open until 6am, it has a range of fantastic lap dancing venues, as well as offering naked mud wrestling. Not you’re average night out back in Blighty! Groups on a Bratislava stag do also have plenty of choice when it comes to day time activities. White water rafting, ice hockey at the countries national stadium, and fully automatic machine gun shooting are just a few of the exciting options available in Slovakia.

Bratislava also has a number of great value accommodation options. Whether you’re staying in a budget hotel, self catered apartment or a luxury 5 star hotel, you’re guaranteed to be in the heart of the action, just steps from the old town and the best evening entertainment Bratislava has to offer.

Furthermore, with cheap and direct flights from major UK airports to Bratislava becoming increasingly more accessible, this Slovakian gem is one of the best places in Europe to host an unforgettable stag weekend.

Pleasure, but where’s the Pain-tball?

Whether or not you bruise like a peach, you’re unlikely to avoid experiencing at least one afternoon of paintball action in your lifetime, especially for a stag do. Statistically paintballing is the nation’s favourite stag activity and for good reason – it’s cheap as chips and a great opportunity to get all the guys involved, regardless of group size.  On top of that, it’s a great way to ensure that the Stag doesn’t get away unmarked… Hunt the stag anyone?

This is not an activity restricted to select destinations – there are hundreds of venues scattered across the UK & Europe – but the quality of experience varies enormously, so it’s important to do your research.  A good paintball site will be run by dedicated professionals who put safety first every time, ensuring you’re equipped with all safety gear.

There are some massive venues out there, offering the chance to play in woodland, fields and even indoor (Bournemouth, Birmingham, London and Nottingham are amongst the best destinations for paintball). You’ll get to play through a range of mission objectives in varied game zones, all designed to really get the adrenaline pumping, and some sites even feature huge props, including ex-army vehicles, pyramids, trains and planes.

There are those who scoff at an afternoon’s paintballing, but it’s clearly fear doing the talking here. This is a man’s sport, for real men.

Noel Gallagher ties the knot

This weekend marked the occasion of Noel Gallagher’s marriage to long-term girlfriend Sara MacDonald at the Lime Wood Hotel in the New Forest, South England.

In true rock’n’roll style the wedding partied until 7am the following morning.

Attending the ex Oasis legends wedding included celeb guests Paul Weller, David Walliams and Russell Brand who was also the best man. Absent from the nuptials was Noel’s younger brother and former Oasis band mate Liam Gallagher who is currently touring in Chicago but previously insisted he had not been invited to the ceremony.

Usually stag weekends are organised a few weeks in advance of the wedding with Noel having his just a week before the big day. It was reported Gallagher merrily partied until the early hours on his stag weekend in London.
