A former Bolton wrestling coach raised an alarm as he attempted to head to the top of the Empire State Building, almost ruining the surprise he had planned for his partner.

10 years ago John Turner vowed to his girlfriend Lynne Schofield that he would put a ring on her finger at the top of the Empire State. Years passed and although Lynne remembered the promise, she believed that he had in fact forgotten.

So when the metal detectors went off twice as they were heading up the landmark, Lynne had no idea that it was an engagement ring that was tripping the system. Luckily, John found the chance to show the box to the security guards explaining the situation before his partner discovered his secret. The guard played along and once they both reached the 86th floor John popped the question.

Lynne was absolutely delighted “I do remember him making that promise but I never though he would after 10 years”.

Sir Paul McCartney is set to wed his American girlfriend Nancy Shevell in what friends have described as an “imminent” ceremony.

Last week the couple flew into the UK from New York, finalising their plans for their big day, which is expected to be a small family wedding at the ex Beatles farmhouse in Sussex. Paul states that he wants to avoid a similar atmosphere that surrounded his failed marriage to Heather Mills in a huge Irish castle.

Tomorrow kicks off the start of the Rugby World Cup 2011 in New Zealand. With 20 teams battling to return home with the title, you can guarantee that the next few months are not to be missed. With the cup final scheduled for 23rd October everyone’s hoping that their country will be crowned 2011’s champion.

As New Zealand are hosting this fantastic event, they are set to take on Tonga in the first game for the battle of the 2011 Cup; with all the pool games to take place until 02/10. This morning reports show that England and Scotland have both announced their teams for the opening games as England take on Georgia with Scotland against Romania.

Sad news guys … It’s very rare that celebrities decide to reduce the size of their assets, with tons of people everywhere getting breast implants and now even increasing their bums. However, it has been reported that Jessica Simpson is going to have her breasts reduced ready for her wedding to Eric Johnson.

Although most ladies would kill for a cleavage like hers, apparently she is unhappy with her chest and feels that decreasing the size of them will help her to look amazing in her wedding gown. At only 5ft 3in Jessica’s small frame is taken over by her DD chest and she is worries of being a “plus sized bride”.
