To this day, the Irish-Americans have not forgotten their heritage, so when St Patrick’s Day comes around New York City is a sea of Green and is the place to be. Whether you go to church, the parade or a pub, this is one of the city’s most exuberant annual celebrations. The festive really kick off on the evening in the Irish bars and restaurants. These are certainly the places to go for a pint of your favourite Irish Guinness and a thick, hearty steak or shepherd’s pie, while tapping your feet to the sounds of traditional live Irish music and dancing.

The perfect stag do: Things to consider

To many people, stag parties come second only to the actual wedding in terms of importance. As the years have gone by, these occasions have developed to much more than just a night in a few local pubs. These days, soon-to-be grooms are being rushed up and down the country in their personalised t-shirts to make sure they celebrate their upcoming special day in style. These events are fun for all and the options are endless for those in charge of organising them, so here are a few suggestions to help you plan the perfect stag do.

Firstly, the location must be decided. Everyone knows the UK is full of potential stag party destinations, and every city has its own perks. London speaks for itself – as you’d expect any capital city to do. With tourist destinations and bars left, right and centre, you’d be more suited to a stag weekend rather than a night there as 24 hours simply isn’t going to be enough.

If culture is your thing then look no further than the former European Capital of Culture – Liverpool. Steeped in history as the hometown of The Beatles, and home to two Premiership football clubs, Liverpool is an ideal destination for a stag do. Spend the day doing activities such as clay shooting, quad biking or even an Anfield Tour and then spend the night in some of Liverpool’s best bars on Concert Square or Matthew Street and you won’t be disappointed.

Of course, the majority of UK cities will offer more than enough options in terms of nightlife as well as some nice places to see and things to do during the day. Cities such as Birmingham, Newcastle and Manchester will all make sure that you have a night to remember.

Once you’ve decided on your destination, the next thing to take into account what you actually want to do. The inevitable event is a big night out, but instead of an all-day session; why not take part in some other activities as well? One popular and affordable choice is to go go-karting. Do you fancy yourself as the next Sebastian Vettel or Jenson Button? Why not prove it on the track with the lads?

Another (more painful) option is to go paintballing. This will give you an opportunity to put those hours wasted away on Call of Duty to the test in a real-life setting.

There’s simply an enormous amount of activities you can take part in over the stag weekend, and if you’re finding it hard to decide just give us a call to discuss any options, we’re always happy to help!

Become a secret agent in Oxford

swat training daysOxford has become more and more popular for stags over the last few years. It’s vibrant and fun nightlife has been well documented, and the more refined and sophisticated bars and clubs seem to be attracting stag groups looking for something different to the loud and brash cities that have been done time and time again.

Another great reason to choose an Oxford stag weekend is the interesting and unusual selection of stag activities. One of the most popular events is the SWAT training day, which gives stag groups the chance to be Jack Bauer for the day. Learning how to use a fire arm correctly, mastering how to come out on top in a close quarter combat scenario and trying your hand a sniper shooting are just some of the things you can expect from our secret agent day. The whole event is filmed and groups get to take home a DVD as evidence of their once in a life time experience.

Combine this great activity day with a big night out in Oxford and accommodation in a luxury hotel, and you’ve got an unforgettable Oxford stag do!
