If you’re not aware, this weekend (Sunday 22nd April) is the Virgin London Marathon which is one of the biggest marathons in the world with a winning prize of £1 million. A marathon requires months of dedicated preparation, but there is no better feeling than when you cross the finish line. But why not share that joy and pride with your mates while you’re away on a stag do. There are many marathons run across the world like New York, Chicago and Honolulu which attract millions of people. But below is a list of marathons a lot closer to home and at destinations suitable for stag weekends.

Lisbon – takes place in December

If you’re looking to see a bit of culture and architecture during a visit to Lisbon, then running a marathon is a great way take it in. The marathon course is regarded as being quite hilly, but it’s a lot more flatter than perceived. The course will take you through the city passing along the River Tagus.

London – takes places in April

This year’s marathon is its 32nd event and is one of the top 5 world major marathon. The marathon attracts many applicants every year including famous celebs, but to avoid disappointment you will have to apply early. Once you’re on the course, you’ll pass famous landmarks like Big Ben. The London Eye before ending near Buckingham Palace.

To make things more interesting, why don’t you and the boys go fancy dress? It will certainly make things a lot more interesting.

Once you have completed the marathon, there is no better way to celebrate your achievement than with a celebratory stag night out with lads to toast your day.

Only 100 days until the Olympics

The count down until the start of the 2012 London Olympics is drawing ever closer as we are only 100 days away. Within this time frame there’s still a lot that needs to be done. Testing events still need to take place on the new venues like the Gymnastics arena, Synchronised Swimming at the Aquatics centre, Hockey at the Riverbank Arena and Men’s Football at the City of Manchester Stadium plus much more. According to the BBC, a further 200,000 temporary seats and 10,000 portable toilets still need to be installed. The venue for beach volleyball is to be located at the Horse Guards Parade and this is yet to be transformed.

The Olympic Torch Relay also needs to take place and this starts in May and lasts for 70 days. Around 8,000 people will take part in carrying the torch through towns and cities across the UK. The route has been planned so it will come within ten miles of 95% of everyone who lives in the UK.

If you haven’t managed to get a ticket for any of the games events then do not stress, there is still plenty of football tickets and Paralympic tickets available, as well as the free events like the Marathon and the walk race. So start your planning now if you don’t want to miss out on Britain’s greatest spectacle for many years. This is perfect if you want your day or weekend away with the boys to coincide with the Nation’s great spectacle. If you’re already on a stag do, this would top off a great weekend away.

Liverpool stag party guide

Liverpool is one of Britain’s most distinctive cities, a place marked by its unique accent, lively nightlife, humour and vibrant cultural and sporting scenes. A historic port which looks across the Irish Sea and Atlantic for much of its inspiration, Liverpool is a city full of character, as well as plenty of characters.

The home to two of the world’s most famous football clubs, as well as perhaps the most famous rock band of all time, the city is a great venue for any stag night. Whether you are interested in a night on the ale in an Irish bar or something a little more refined, it can be found on the banks of the River Mersey.

Liverpool FC are one of the most famous clubs in world football and their Anfield stadium, with its famous Shankly Gates, remains one of football’s most iconic stadia. A tour of the famous ground is available at various times of year – see more about stadium tours here.

Visitors should not forget about Everton FC, though. The Toffees, as they are nicknamed, play at the famous Goodison Park ground, just across Stanley Park from the home of their red-clad rivals. Although less successful than Liverpool, the blue side of this footballing city still has a heritage and devotion that is the envy of other clubs across the world. Some fixtures will be trickier than others to get tickets for, though and it is worthwhile planning ahead and not taking attendance for granted.

Of course, no visit to Liverpool would really be complete without taking in something related to the Beatles. Heading to Albert Dock to the Beatles Story is perhaps the easiest and quickest way to get a fix of the Fab Four before heading on to other things.

With some great memorabilia on show, as well as interesting and interactive displays which trace the stories of all four members of Liverpool’s most famous group, a visit should really get the juices flowing to see what the rest of the city can offer.

The bars and pubs are also great places to enjoy a few pints. Liverpool has a long-running connection with Ireland which is clearly visible in the nightlife of the city. There are plenty of music bars where good traditional and not-so traditional Irish music can be heard, such as O’Neill’s on Hanover Street or Flanagan’s Apple on Mathew Street, where.

For someone who is looking for something perhaps a little less folksy, the city’s nightclubs offer some treats. Liverpool is, the home of Cream, one of the UK’s most famous dance venues. Located in Wolstenholme Square, the club is easily accessible from city centre Liverpool hotels.

For a traditional stag do activity, Liverpool also has some good lap dancing clubs. Providing glamorous girls and luxurious hospitality and it is worthwhile enquiring to see what packages are available for groups.

Paintballing has become increasingly popular as a stag activity in recent years with some of the best sites available in Liverpool. Both outdoor and indoor games on offer, as well as urban environments to battle in.

With Aintree racecourse also just a short distance away, a day at the races is another good option for any stag do. A number of different events run throughout the year at the racecourse, enquire to find out prices.

One thing that a stag do should always be is a laugh and there are some great comedy clubs in the city to see some top acts. Scousers have a reputation for having a lively sense of humour and it is often entertaining simply to listen to conversations in pubs.

However, those who are looking for a more professional brand of comedy should look our various comedy clubs, with some hospitality packages including food and drink also available, just enquire for more information.

Liverpool is one of Britain’s great cities for a weekend break away. As a venue for a man to bid farewell to single life with his buddies, there are few better places to go than this town of celebrations and warm hospitality.

Does Rory have the making to win the 2012 Masters?

Tomorrow sees the start of the 2012 Masters Tournament held at Augusta National in Georgia. No Britain has won the tournament since Nick Faldo did in 1996, but this year sees a great chance of one Britain’s winning this year.

The number 1 player in the world is Luke Donald, is known for his consistent straight and accurate driving, even though he lacks distance compared to many other golfers, that shouldn’t be a problem as the course is not the longest.

Also in contention is Lee Westwood, the Englishman is current ranking number 3 in the world after previously ranking as number 1. But like Luke Donald his only drawback is the fact that he hasn’t won a major tournament in his career. Current number 2 in the world is Rory McIlroy, the current golden boy of golf. He is currently neck and neck with Englishman Luke Donald over the number 1 spot and maybe serves as Britain’s best chance of taking the green jacket.

Rory will definitely be looking to make up for last years tournament when he led by 4 shots but unfortunately had a disastrous last round to lose out. But Rory will have to be on his game, as this year is seen the one of the most open Masters Tournaments in years with the like of Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, other Brit Justin Rose all coming in to form of late.

The Queen is a wedding crasher

The Queen and Prince Phillip made a lovely gesture by popping in to see two newly weds minutes after they made there nuptials on Friday. The Queen had dropped into Manchester Town Hallas she was visiting a number of sites in preparation for her Diamond Jubilee Tour this year.

John Canning, who was marrying the new Frances Manning, had said he had heard the Queen was visiting the town hall that day so jokingly wrote to Buckingham Palace inviting the Queen to the service. John Canning told the Sun newspaper that Buckingham Palace had sent him a polite reply declining the invitation, but the palace officials secretly arranged the meeting.

The Queen and Prince Phillip posed for photos with the happy couple and had a conversation with them stating that the bride looked lovely to wish the best for the future. This experience certainly put the icing on the cake, to top off an already magical day.
