Edinburgh Stag Activities

Edinburgh is one of the most diverse and lively destinations in the UK, and provides an abundance of great stag activities to suit all needs and budgets, from white water rafting to highland games.Edinburgh stag weekends

If you’re looking for something different to the norm on your Edinburgh stag weekend and something the stag and the rest of the boys are going to remember, then it’s got to involve white water. The rivers that run North of Edinburgh provide amazing rapids all year round, so whether you want rafting, canyoning, or even duckies during your Edinburgh stag do, the blood is really going to be pumping.

If you think the guys and water won’t mix, you can certainly get your adrenalin fix on land instead. There are plenty of great options at your finger tips with Edinburgh boasting some of the finest off road driving centres in the UK, offering rage buggies, honda pilot racing, and an extreme quad bike safari.

Both the pre mentioned types of activities do involve at least a 40 minutes transfer time but don’t fear. If travelling is not for you, there are copious city centre activities to wet the whistle such as whisky tours or even a recording studio session if you have a couple of singers in the group.

You couldn’t have chosen a better destination for your stag weekend, Edinburgh has so many great tourist attractions to see anyway, but combined with the array of fun and exciting activities available, you can guarantee the guys are going to have a blast!

Organising your stag weekend on Facebook

With so many people having Facebook accounts these days it’s a great place to organise the stag do!

When you know what you’re doing for the stag weekend, all you need to do is lads on stag weekendset up the event on Facebook. If you’re the bestman organising the stag, you may not know everyone coming to the stag and you certainly won’t know everyone’s email address – organising an event on Facebook will allow you to invite people if you have them as friends as well as allowing the stag to invite people!

Once you have put in the event information you can invite the lads to the event, this will then give you an idea of numbers, it will also give the lads the opportunity to see the itinerary in more detail, but more importantly it will give you the chance to chase them for the money! The lads will not want to be named and shamed as tight arses!

The event is also a great place to tell stories and put up a couple of photos when you’re home and hangover free!

Continued from yesterday – top 10 summer stag party activities

Coasteering

This is an extreme sport you need to be fit for, it’s a combination of a hiking, canyoning and cliff jumping. It’s probably the most naturally thrilling activity you can do in the UK but you’ve got to be game. Top spots – Cardiff, Exeter, Newquay, Torquay, Woolacombe.

Yacht Charter / Sailing

Perhaps the coolest of stag weekend watersports, hire a yacht, load up with beers and snacks (but drink responsibly) and let the skipper take you out on half-day of full day’s sailing. As the ozzies might say … bloody beautiful! Top spots – Barcelona, Bournemouth, Brighton, Isle of Wight, Southampton.

Sea Fishing

A great activity, half day of full day. Half-day will be closer to the shore and therefore the catch will be slightly different, but get out for a full day and we’re talking deep sea fishing. Usually 10-12 to a vessel, you’ll need your sea legs but if the weather holds it’s a day with your best mates you’ll never forget. Top spots – Barcelona, Bournemouth, Brighton, Isle of Wight, Newquay, Southampton, Torquay, Woolacombe.

Zorbing

Imagine this, a group of stags all line up to do something you’ve never done before and are unlikely to do again. You get into a massive nylon ball which has a cavity especially for you (and maybe a mate if you’re lucky), you’re strapped in and then rolled down a slow for a few minutes of madness. Awesome! Top spots – Bournemouth.

Cricket

Where would the summer be without Cricket, nowhere that’s where. Cricket is the archetypal summer team game so it’s ideal for a stag weekend, whether it’s spectating (20/20, county, day-night, test) or playing a proper match, six a side or indoor. We have access to several international fixtures where you can play against expats and the locals, we even know of a pitch where we might even be able to get a celebrity player or two! Top Spots – Bath, Birmingham, Brighton, Bristol, Cardiff, Cork, Durham, France, Leeds, London, Manchester, Nottingham, Southampton, Taunton, Tallinn.

In truth there are plenty more (we haven’t even mentioned beach volleyball, hydrospeeding, highland games or zip wires), check out StagWeb’s activities section for a full buffet of stag weekend ideas. The most important thing of all is to get something that will suit the group that you’ll all enjoy, we’re here to help you get great value and a superb stag weekend experience.

Your Stag Weekend Abroad Essentials!

stag weekend checklist

Europe is currently extremely popular for a stag weekend especially eastern Europe … Prague, Riga, Budapest, Krakow etc. So now you’ve got it all booked up and are wondering what you should take, even though the stag weekend is generally 2 or 3 days, you’re not going to need much but there are some essentials you must take!

1. flights – You’re not going anywhere in Europe unless you’ve booked your flights. We don’t book your flights for you, that’s because by going direct you can get much better deals, we will however direct you to which airport would be best to fly from and which airline to go with for your European stag weekend. Here is a website dedicated to providing you with the best stag weekend flights

2. passport & visa – Another essential you don’t want to leave home without. Also make sure it’s upto date! Most European destinations you won’t need a Visa, Las Vegas is the only destination you’ll need one and you can apply online for it here

3. travel insurance – Very important as you’ll most likly be doing something action packed like white water rafting, paintballing, 4×4 off road driving etc. Find travel insurance

Those above are the most important essentials, and below are recommended …

4. activity transfers – Being in a big group you don’t want to be waiting around for taxis, so as standard we’ll arrange a private driver to pick you up and take you to your accommodation. It’s also a good idea to get activity transfers as some taxis abroad can try to rip you off.

5. fancy dress custume – Make sure you pack your 70′s costume you’re going to need this for the stag night!

6. stag t-shirts – We’ve all seen those annoying lads at the airport all wearing the same old t-shirts with their nickname on the back, well why should you be any different? You can find stag party tshirts here and also customise your own.

7. mankini – Since Borat came out the Mankini is possible the most popular thing to take on your stag weekend, buy mankini

Make sure you have most of these sorted, and you’re half way to enjoying the best stag weekend abroad ever!
