a little more about Bournemouth
A relatively new town, Louis Tregonwell introduced the agreeability of Bournemouth in 1811 when he built a home there.
By the turn of the century, over 50,000 new residents had been encouraged to reside there. By 1890, Bournemouth was recognised by Queen Victoria, who granted it the status of a Borough, complete with its own Mayor.
Bournemouth expanded at an astonishing rate, swallowing up Westbourne, Boscombe Spa and Southbourne-on-Sea, which had once been competing resorts.
By the middle of the twentieth century it was one of the major towns of England.
