Tricity: Gdansk, Gdynia & Sopot
 Gdansk, Poland's principal sea port, is made up of a tri-city area that spans close to 30km at its longest, the three components are Gdansk (obviously the most well known), Gdynia and Sopot. This trio, bound by the Baltic Sea and the National Park, are identifiably independent but complementary which makes the area both interesting and agreeable to enjoying a range of experiences.
In terms of size, as you would expect Gdansk is the biggest and oldest, it sets the tone for the region in terms of positioning and culture. Conversely Gdynia is the youngest of the three and has benefited from extensive investment in recent times. Lastly Sopot, like Hove to Brighton, has developed into a seaside resort in its own right offering perhaps the region's best entertainment.

 Always an important and appealing city in Polish and European terms, at one time one of the richest and most prosperous cities in Europe, the 20th Century also saw Gdansk undeniably woven into the tapestry of global history. It was here that World War II started and where the Solidarity movement started in the 1970s ultimately influencing the fall of Communism.
But a free spirited city Gdansk today has been quick to embrace growth and prosperity, with dozens of bars, cafes, restaurants, pubs and clubs to keep its visitors entertained. To get a real feel for the place head, in the footsteps of Kings, to popular "Dluga Street" which houses some of the city's most important historical buildings.
The other thing to remember is Gdansk's beautifully clean beaches, and while the water can get cold it's extremely clean. There are two main stretches of beach, head for Stogi or Brzezno (sporting a 130m pier which in high season can attract thousands of visitors per day), two others are Jelitkowo and Sobieszewo.
And lastly if you want to pick up something special for 'er indoors, Gdansk is the place to pick up "Amber". No that's not a nineteen year old Au Pair, but a rare golden mineral that's cut to make some very nice jewellery.
Gdansk is a super place and well worth a weekend break on it's own but as usual with StagWeb you get so much more in your trip!

 The youngest of the three cities, Gdynia was only granted city status last century (1926), after growing out of Gdynia village with the strategic and often administratively challenged construction of a major sea port. This port is a crucial player in the Polish economy and one of the most important ports of the Baltic Sea.
As you would expect there's a lot going on on the water from commercial vessels to private yachts.
To get a feel for Gdynia head for Kosciuszki Square and the Boulevard for two of the most lively places in the city. Or again spend time at the beach for your entertainment from cultural offerings to sun, sand, sea and water sports. When it's time to party make for Gdynia's main shopping and entertainment at Swietojanska Street.

 Sopot, ok it sounds like an athlete's foot powder however that couldn't be further from the truth, but it is a place to let your feet do the walking - along the cracking beach to the multitude of cosy bars, pubs, cool clubs, restaurants and cafes. In fact if you're young and local it is the place to be, plus being a small but perfectly formed place everything is within walking distance.
For a fun relaxing day head to the beach and or the Aqua Park, and when you've topped up the tan take a stroll down Monte Cassino Street to sample some of the area's finest hospitality. Something you shouldn't miss, especially in Summer when a host of events are on, is Sopot's impressive 511 metre long, 10 metre wide pier.
