Liverpool’s kicked on a long way in the last few years and it was already at the leading edge of the UK’s great cities. The extraordinary musical and sporting pedigree aside, in the more recent past Liverpool represented Europe as the much coveted ‘European city of Culture’ in 2008 and certainly over the last decade has really developed into a major party capital. Regenerating as a “go to” city, Liverpool enjoys the richness of great activities – we have over 20 listed for starters; superb entertainment – the restaurants, bars, pubs and clubs are fantastic, very lively and great value too; and quality services –with plenty of decent hotels and group accommodation.
Visit Haydock Park Racecourse, the most visited racecourse in the country, then head over to Hope Street where you’ll find some of the finest buildings, restaurants and pubs. Also worth a visit is China Town for great food and of course The Cavern Club, where the Merseybeat started. Music plays a big part of Liverpool’s history - you can visit the childhood homes of John Lennon and Sir Paul McCartney.
Unless your dates can filter in with a prolific footballing calendar, summer tends to be a little more obliging on dates. However home fixtures don’t play every weekend so if you can be flexible on timing you should be fine. During the season key premiership fixtures mean much of the city’s accommodation is booked out or at least at premium rates - that said there’s always a great buzz when the football’s on so if you don’t mind that it can be a terrific time to experience the city and if you can get tickets you’re on for a memorable trip.
Along with the football the city enjoys some big festivals, cultural events and notable entertainment so depending on how you feel timing it with these is either a blessing or to be avoided. If you like your horseracing and fancy one of the UK’s biggest events there’s one date in the calendar that’s a guaranteed sell out every year, the Grand National (next year it’s 03-05 April 2014).
Very easy. If you’re flying head to John Lennon Airport which is under 10 miles from the centre, if you’re travelling by train head for Liverpool Lime Street station. And of course getting there by road is a cinch.
With a compact centre you shouldn’t be too far from anything that said there are 8 districts of note. The celebrated and very impressive waterfront around Albert Dock and Pier Head are fantastic, you and the boys are also sure to enjoy the Ropewalks (“the bohemian heart” of the city) and you might be interested to know Liverpool’s Chinatown is allegedly the oldest in Europe. Other than that you could find a wealth of venues and entertainment in the Cavern Quarter, Hope Street Quarter, St George’s and the Baltic Triangle.
Did we mention the football?! Well of course there’s that and an Anfield stadium tour for good measure but there’s a whole lot more. We’ve listed in the region of 30 group pleasing Liverpool stag do activities for you and the boys and whether it’s sport, high action or big adventure you’re well covered, you could even cut a record to play at the wedding (Beatles classic “she loves you yeah yeah yeah” comes to mind) and then head for the Cavern Club! Stag Beetles!
Liverpool represents excellent value; off-the-shelf or bespoke you can enjoy some great 2 night packages from as little as £99 per person. But it’s when you’re there that you’ll notice the on-the-ground expenses for example eating and drinking, in tremendous venues, that make it a great choice. Feedback's always good and we’d suggest pound-for-pound it’s probably one of the UK’s best value stag destinations. You’re in for a ‘lorra lorra’ fun,
For a memorable trip with the lads it’s definitely a sound choice, it’s one of the country’s most distinguished cities and with some clued up preparation you’ll have a great itinerary at a decent price. Choose one of our packages or send us a brief of what you need and we’ll get to it.If you liked the sound of that, then see our Liverpool packages for more ideas & itineraries!
