Maribor stag do - stag weekends in Maribor
We've chosen Maribor (and Pohorje) as one of our primary European ski weekend locations because it's an easy going, stunning wine growing and mountainous region, Slovenia is such a great country for a short break and the people are among the nicest in Europe. Maribor, Slovenia's second city, gives you a slightly different experience, it's unlikely you've been there before; it's a beautiful location with its historic streets, medieval remains, stunning city parks, a castle, a cathedral and one of the largest and oldest wine cellars in Europe! Plus Maribor is home to the oldest vine in the world, that's got to be a good sign! Maribor serves a population of approximately 120,000, consequently it has its fair share of bars, restaurants, clubs and cafes, there's even a jazz club and casino!

Minutes from Maribor is the skiing area of Mariborsko Pohorje, with 220 hectares of slopes it's the biggest skiing area in Slovenia and houses the country's longest slope at 10km. Mariborsko Pohorje is great for beginners and intermediate skiers while advanced skiers will enjoy a good workout and perhaps a taste of night skiing, at 5km the night skiing is the longest run in Europe! 100 days of snow are guaranteed annually and this should bettered by a natural drop throughout the winter months. The mountain range peaks at just under 1350 metres from 325 metres above sea level providing 40km of prepared ski runs, and the skiing's considered good enough to host the Golden Fox Trophy, (the annual World Cup women's alpine skiing competition), several snowboarding competitions and a world youth championship race.
