Lucy's Lisbon Top Tip

"Lisbon is such a cool city with loads of viewpoints and rooftop bars where you can enjoy a cold beer looking out over the city – check out the Alfama neighbourhood for this."

"If you are into good food, the Time Out Market has loads of amazing food huts to try."

"Also, not everywhere will be keen on taking large groups of stags, so booking through a company like us is strongly advised to ensure entry."

🍺 Lucy's Night Out Top Tip

"The Bairro Alto district is the place for bars and small clubs, consisting of roughly four parallel, steep cobbled streets."

"It has a buzzing atmosphere with people drinking both in and outside the bars."

"If you head towards the river, you will find all the big, more exclusive nightclubs."

Is a Stag Do in Lisbon Right for You?

With all the benefits of a capital city, with the added bonus of scorching sunshine, it's hard to find any faults with Lisbon.

It's not far to fly to. It's relatively cheap compared to other European capitals. It's packed with loads of activities to keep you occupied. It's got a bouncing party scene. What doesn't it have?!

Unless you're allergic to fun, Lisbon is a great choice for the groom's big send-off into married life.

One of our former stag legends, Thomas, put it perfectly: "We had a brilliant weekend in Lisbon with StagWeb.

"The city centre apartments are perfect and put you right in the heart of the action.

"We'd recommend doing the bar crawl on your first night to get to know Lisbon, and paintballing was great fun - perfect for punishing the groom."

When Do Most Stags Go to Lisbon?

Whilst we have stag groups heading out as early as February in 2023, most stags this year head to Lisbon in May and June (67%).

Why then?

Well, the temperature will have tipped into the twenties by then (degrees Celsius) and the city will start to liven up with like-minded party people heading to the Portuguese capital.

With wedding season occurring in August and September, it also gives enough time for the guys to recover in time for the big day.

Where to Drink in Lisbon

Bairro Alto - Bairro Alto is Lisbon's main drinking hub. Located fairly centrally, this district is a maze of side streets packed full of bars, pubs tapas restaurants and a whole lot more.

Principe Real - Merging into the norther section of Bairro Alto is the Principe Real district which also has its fair share of bars, cafés and eateries.

Pink Street - Pink Street is the nickname of Rua Nova do Carvalho which has a - you guessed it - pink street. Located in the Cais do Sodre neighbourhood, just a ten-minute walk from Bairro Alto, it's definitely worth checking out one evening.

Your Lisbon Stag Night

As you can imagine, the Portuguese capital can get pretty busy, and trying to get a group of 12+ into a packed-out bar can be a living nightmare.

Next thing you know, you're walking around for three hours begging bouncers to let you in.

No thanks!

Book up your Lisbon stag night with StagWeb and we'll make sure you and the boys are on the guestlist for some of the biggest nights in town.

Whether that's the best restaurants or the biggest bars, we've got a range of nightlife activities good to go.

Have a look on the nightlife tab above and get those big nights out added to your itinerary.

And if you want to chat about the best things to book, give our Lisbon Specialist a call on 01225 474200 and they'll be able to advise on the latest and greatest offerings.

Why would you not book in advance?

Where to Stay in Lisbon on a Stag Do?

From plush hotels to budget-friendly stays, spacious apartments to city centre rooms, we have a great array of stag-friendly Lisbon accommodation ready to book.

Whilst you might find cheap deals booking somewhere slightly out of town, this can be counter-productive as you'll find yourselves splashing the cash on taxis just to get to where the party's at.

Our advice would be to get somewhere central, preferably walking distance from the nights out of Bairro Alto, and save yourselves a load of hassle.

Getting to Lisbon

Flights

Many major UK airports offer direct flights to Lisbon (Humberto Delgado Airport) - including London, Edinburgh and Manchester - taking between 2 hrs 30 mins and 3 hrs 15 mins. Be sure to check your nearest airport and be sure to book early for the best prices and availability.

Getting from Lisbon Airport to the City Centre

Lisbon Airport is situated less than six miles from the centre of Lisbon, meaning you'll be in the city centre and partying in no time.

You can get to the centre of Lisbon from the airport via metro, bus, taxi or even private transfers (simply select 'Transfers' at the bottom of your Lisbon stag enquiry and we'll add it to your quote).

Metro - You can get to downtown Lisbon in 20 minutes on the Aeroporto-Saldanha line for as little as €1.45

Bus/Shuttle Bus - There are a number of buses that can take you to the centre of Lisbon, but please be away there is a maximum baggage allowance (50x40x20cm). If your baggage is bigger than this, you will need to book a shuttle bus in advance.

Taxi - There will be a load of taxis queuing out the front of the airport. You can get to the centre for around €10-15.

Getting Around Lisbon

Walking- If you're in and around the city centre, walking is your best option. Not only will you see the sights by strolling around, but everything is a short wander away. Lisbon is quite hilly, though, so you may want to consider alternative transport options.

Tram - If you Google images of Lisbon, you will undoubtedly get photos with the famous yellow trams popping up. There are currently around five routes with over 50 stops, so you can bounce about the capital with ease. With tickets costing between €1-€3, it's a really cost-effective way to get around.

Metro - There are four different metro lines that serve Lisbon (Yellow, Blue, Green and Red). You can pay by contactless, so it's a very hassle-free way of getting about the city.

Lisbon Stag Do FAQs

Is Lisbon good for a stag do?

Lisbon is a fantastic stag do destination as not only do you get all the benefits of a bouncing capital city (big nights out, plenty of sights to see, etc.), but it's also a lot more budget-friendly than many of its European counterparts and you're almost guaranteed good weather.

Is Lisbon Known for Partying?

Lisbon is a bouncing party city. With multiple districts like Bairro Alto and Pink Street to head to, you won't find it hard to find the best nights out. From bars to nighclubs, Fado houses (small restaurants boasting Portuguese cuisine and quite often live music) and more, there's plenty to sink your teeth into here.

Is alcohol cheap in Lisbon?

Lisbon is famed for its affordability. Expect to pick up a beer from anywhere between €1-€4 euros. Obviously, be wary of tourist traps and expect to pay more in high-end bars, restaurants and nightclubs.

Does Lisbon have a beach?

Lisbon is located on the coast, but it doesn't have a beach itself. Praia da Torre is one of the closest beaches located a 17-mile drive away. A taxi will be able to get you from the centre of the city to the beach in around 40 minutes (traffic dependant).

How long should we have a stag do in Lisbon for?

The majority of stags who went to Lisbon in 2023 (50%) booked a three-day stay (two nights). Because it's such a short flight, you can explore the best that Lisbon has to offer in just three days. Not many groups went for less than this but nearly 30% ended up going for four days (three nights).

Do You Have Any Lisbon Stag Packages Available?

Yes, we have a top selection of Lisbon stag packages priced-up and ready to go.

Have a browse and see if anything stands out. All our packages are built by our Destination Specialists and they're made up of our most popular picks.

They're all fully flexible, so feel free to customise them as you wish.

How Many Activities Should You Book for Each Day?

We always suggest to our stags to do a minimum of one and a max. of three activities per day.

This gives you the perfect balance of keeping boredom at bay, but having enough time for that big night out.

When choosing your Lisbon stag activities, remember to take into account the time it takes to travel to them.

A lot of our activities are located right in the centre of the city, but some will be a bit further out (your Destination Specialist will be able to advise and plan this for you).
