Prague, capital of the Czech Republic and its largest city (with a population of nearly 1.3 million), is one of Europe's most beautiful cities, from Charles Bridge to the Old Town Square and from Kafka to Dvorak it's a cultural feast. Known as the “Golden City” or “the city of a hundred spires”, it's is one of those destinations you must see in your lifetime. If you're visiting because a extremely well chosen Prague stag party is on the cards, you're in for a treat!

With a Prague stag do to plan the chances are you're not going for your annual cultural intake however you'll need a hangover that keeps your eyes firmly shut not to notice an incredible city which is an appealing mix of complementary styles. Don't miss out on seeing what a special place this is, plan well, take in a little culture, don't spend the whole day in the pub – it's too good for that (besides which you can do that at home). Don't miss out because you'll regret it if you do. The boys might take a bit of convincing but if you load the visit with action, decent well researched hospitality and a splash of culture they'll be grateful and you'll all get more out of it. Plus you'll all remember it forever and you'll look like a very high quality bestman. It would be a shame if you missed the opportunity to make your Prague stag weekends something special, plenty of stag parties go and overlook much of this incredible city. Go for gold, it's one of the greatest destinations in Europe and for a stag party, Prague may just be one of the best in the world!

Prague history

Prague's history reportedly dates back as far as 4000 years BC when it is written that a bunch of Celtic farmers called it “Bohemia”. From there on in it's had a noteworthy place in Europe's history books, even becoming the capital of the Holy Roman Empire for a while! In more recent times 1918 saw the formation of Czechoslovakia with Prague as its capital. After the second world war the leading communist party established a healthy third of Czech votes and subsequently formed a ruling coalition with the other pre-eminent socialist parties. However the story continues dramatically as after significant infighting the communist stole the march and seized government.

Backed as you would expect by neighbouring Soviet Union, the die was cast and to cut a longer story short albeit with a brief flirtation to reform in the late 1960s, the Czech Republic (and importantly Prague) remained under communist direction until the velvet revolution of the late 20th century. Prague was finally established as the capital of the new Czech Republic on new year's day 1993. Since then it's been on the up and up, now firmly established as one of Europe's must visit destinations! We haven't even mentioned the prize winning beer or enormous range of quality bars, pubs and restaurants or Czech footballing champions Sparta Prague, there's a lot more to come. But in summary lads for a Prague stag do is, and always has been, very near the top of the list.
