What if civilisation collapsed tomorrow? Be honest, you know which one of your mates wouldn't make it. That's what we thought, and if you can't think of anyone it's probably you.

Don't worry, StagWeb has you covered. The "Wild Camp" Survival Course is a great introduction to learn wilderness survival skills and has been designed to whet your appetite for the survivalist lifestyle. Spend 24-hours in the South Downs learning Bear's tried and tested survival techniques from one of his own team.

Learn how to set traps and snares, identify animal runs, forage for wild edible food to supplement your diet and then create a shelter and fire that will keep you alive (all handy knowledge for the zombie apocalypse… Oh, it's coming!).

For your evening meal, you'll prepare wild game like fish, rabbit and pheasant using an open fire which you'll start with your bear hands (geddit?). Then, under cover of night, you'll learn to read the stars and employ night vision goggles on a stalking exercise (that's stalking animals, not assisting in the groom's cousin's weird obsession). Day two will start early with some situational awareness training and self-defence followed by a casualty evacuation exercise. Put all your new-found skills into practice to get safely back to civilisation.

You'll also be given a wide variety of kit including:

  • Bear Grylls survival knife
  • Head torch
  • Metal mug and spoon
  • Water bottle
  • Rucksack and waterproof liner

Your instructors will let you know what to take out into the wilderness on arrival but the following items might be good to think about:

  • Trousers - outdoor/active
  • Upper body - base layer, mid-layer & outer layer
  • Thick fleece or duvet jacket
  • Strong walking boots preferably with ankle support
  • Hat
  • Gloves
  • Waterproof trousers & jacket
  • Sunglasses
  • Washbag & towel
  • Camera/phone in a waterproof bag
  • Any personal medication
  • Spare clothes/footwear for after the course
  • Positive attitude!

Please note - All activities are weather dependent and may be affected by factors beyond our control. The course content and schedule may be subject to change at short notice.
