Raspberry Zephyr Saison – Burning Soul Brewing
At 5.5% ABV, the excellent ‘Raspberry Zephyr Saison’ isn’t the strongest of beers but still demands your respect with a combination of hops that react to create a fruity flavour explosion with each sip. The boffins at Burning Soul Brewing have truly poured all their heart and soul (yep, we went there) into this brew and it deserves its rightful place in your fridge this World Cup.
Puppies, Puppies – Dig Brew Co.
Working from their brilliant brewery in trendy Digbeth (it’s to Birmingham what Shoreditch is to London) the Dig Brew Co. create beer that goes a step above what you’d typically expect from mankind’s favourite drink. ‘Puppies, Puppies’ is one of those beers, a hearty 440ml can of hoppy goodness that commands your attention from the first mouthful to the very last. It’s the ideal brew to take you all the way from the group stages to the World Cup final itself.
Belgian Farmhouse – Framework Brewery
While the Belgian national team has failed to live up to it’s vast potential time and time again, the beautifully balanced Belgian Farmhouse ale from the team at the Framework Brewery hits the back of the net every time. Never ones to stick to convention, Framework’s brewing experts have infused a bubblegum and banana aroma with the sweet taste of demerara sugar and raisins to make this refreshing pint pop with flavour. More class than Kevin du Bruyne doing your nephew’s maths homework while dressed in a tuxedo.
Three Foxes – Charnwood Brewery
You are the quintessential England optimist. You’ve quite rightly forgotten about that match against Iceland (and every other England tournament that doesn’t end with a 6) and you’re ready to see Southgate’s young team show the world what English football is all about. Charnwood Brewery’s World Cup special, the Three Foxes, is for you. A ruby ale with a trio of English hops (what else would you expect?) this is the ideal pint to stir a little national pride into your summer. “Beer is coming home, it’s coming home, it’s coming…”.
