The Naked Deli – Gosforth
It’s tempting when you wake up slightly worse for wear to go out and source the greasiest, saltiest, filthiest meal going (been there, done that!), but that’s counter-productive. After a night toxing, you need to detox with some healthy, nutritious grub and that’s where the guys at the Naked Deli come in. They serve up some outrageously tasty bites which are all suspiciously healthy. Just how do they do it? With a great range of locally sourced produce and the finest ingredients, that’s how!
📍 30-31 Gosforth Shopping Centre, NE3 1JZ
Best cure 🍳 Naked Carnivore – Bacon, sausage, clean beans, sweet potato hash brown, tomato, poached eggs, spinach & toast
Aidan’s Kitchen – Newcastle
Rumour has it that there are two Angels of the North: one is a sixty-six-foot tall steel statue situated in Gateshead and the other mans the frying pans out the back at Aidan’s Kitchens. Frankly, we reckon the rumours are true because no mortal being could forge such heavenly meals. Their pancake stacks are divine and the full English is suitably saintly!
📍 11 Starbeck Ave, NE2 1RH
Best cure 🍳 Pancake stacks topped with crispy bacon and Canadian maple syrup.
Pride & Produce – Leeds
If we were purveyors of such delectable breakfast bites we’d be beaming with joy like the guys should be at the fantastic Pride & Produce in Leeds. They shop as locally as possible to minimise their carbon footprint but also so they maximise the taste. Yes, the regional produce here is just as good as any far-flung mushroom from the shores of Neverland and we applaud them for their planet-saving passion.
📍 33A Main St, LS25 1DS
Best cure 🍳 House-made smoky beans on toast with a fried egg.
Harland Café – Sheffield
Tucked away down a little side street, this fantastic gem is worth seeking out when you’re in the buzzing party city of Sheffield. One of our writers spent a year in the Steel City and was passionate about the inclusion of Harland Café so much so that they got all misty-eyed and chocked-up at the fact they can no longer visit on a weekly basis. Great service, great food, great people. Check them out!
📍 68 John St, S2 4QU
Best cure 🍳 The Classic Full English – Bacon, Cumberland sausage, fried egg, hash brown, beans, mushrooms, tomatoes and white or granary toast.
Robbie Johnson’s – Hull
This fantastic independent eatery in the heart of Kingston upon Hull has been gathering a reputation as one of the best cafes in the region. Though we don’t often choose to follow the crowds, we wanted to see what all the noise was about and we certainly weren’t disappointed. Top-notch grub, top-notch service!
📍 61 Carr Lane, HU1 3RQ
Best cure 🍳 Large Breakfast – Sausage, bacon, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, eggs, toast.
