Dublin is undoubtedly one of the best places for a stag do on the planet.
And whilst we can’t see this ever changing, here at StagWeb, we like to make sure of these things.
That’s why we sent Carmen, our Dublin Event Manager, over to the Irish capital to make sure the Guinness is still sublime, the whiskey is still warming, and the stag activities are still out of this world.
It must have been a success because she went, she saw, and she conquered everything it threw at her.
Here’s what she found out about a Dublin stag do…
Things You Need to Know…
- There are 936 streets in the city centre and 772 pubs in total
- The Guinness Storehouse is a must-visit attraction
- We paid around €8-9 euros a pint in Temple Bar
- If you want a cheap pint, go to Fade Street
How Was Getting to Dublin?🍀
“The airport was surprisingly quiet on a Thursday night, which meant we didn’t have to wait for a taxi for long.
“As we were heading to the hotel, we passed a load of lively pubs that were a sign of things to come.”
What Were Your First Impressions?👀
“Everyone I met was really welcoming.
“In the pubs, it was easy to strike up casual conversation with the people next to you waiting to get a pint.
“Whilst Temple Bar is the place to go, if you want to escape the crowds, you can go to the riverside and grab a drink in a more relaxed setting.”
What Was Your Accommodation?🏡
“We stayed at Harcourt Hotel, which is just a 20-minute walk from Temple Bar.
“This place was great for partiers as there’s a line-up of pubs and clubs on the opposite side.
“The room was great and furnished with a big comfortable bed, a modern en-suite and black-out curtains to shut out the world when the sunrise tries to ruin it all.”
How Easy Was it to Get Around the City?🚦
“Dublin is big but the places of interest to a group of stags are all concentrated in the centre.
“Although it’s easily walkable, trams and buses can take you pretty much anywhere and they aren’t hard to navigate, either.”
Are There Any Great Drinking Spots in Dublin?🥂
“I mean, it’s Dublin. There’s pretty much one pub on every street and chances are they will have Guinness and some sort of lager on tap.
“The advice we got from locals was always the same – if you want to go to Temple Bar, go for a pint, but if you want a cheap pint, go to Fade Street.
“It’s just as busy there and you won’t be charged 10 euros for a Guinness.”
What’s The Average Price of a Pint?🍻
“Dublin can be a bit of a pricey place.
“On average, we paid 7 euros for a pint, but this can vary from pub to pub.
“In Temple Bar, you might be charged more, while pubs that mostly locals go to could be a bit cheaper.
“I would say to think about what you would value more – the atmosphere of Temple Bar, or a cheaper pint?”
Choices, choices….
What Are the Top Dining Spots in Dublin?🍔
“There are so many places to eat along St Andrews Street, you will probably feel overwhelmed but in a good way!
“From doughnuts and cakes to classic Irish restaurants, you’ll find something that suits everyone in your group.
“If you are on a budget, no problem! There are plenty of good fast-food options and supermarkets around to get a meal deal or a sandwich on the go.
“Brother Hubbard on Harrington Street did an amazing, hangover-busting breakfast.
“If I wasn’t that hungover, I probably would have taken some pictures of it, but by the time I thought of that my breakfast was gone. Oops!”
