The 4 Biggest Stag Do Planning Mistakes

1. Putting in no effort

Stag planning mistakes

Who: Mr Can't-Be-Bothered

Attitude: Doesn't really want the hassle, so just books something cheap and easy: 'Yeah, that'll do!'

Outcome:

  • You miss a great chance to do something memorable
  • The groom won't be happy his big weekend has been ruined
  • All the lads feel let down and annoyed that their hard-earned cash was wasted
  • You keep having to buy drinks to appease the growing anger
  • And, eventually, you find yourself strapped to a lamppost and never invited down the boozer again

2. Doing it last minute

Stag planning mistakes

Who: Mr I'll Do It Tomorrow

Attitude: Has good intentions, but he's about as organised as a drunk toddler. He will inevitably leave everything until the last minute with dire consequences.

Outcome:

  • While more organised stags are partying in Prague, you and the guys are camping in a field just off the M25 as you try to convince them it's a 'Bear Grylls weekend'
  • As well as making like a bear and having to s*** in the woods, the groom will also point out (repeatedly) what a s*** time he's having
  • All the lads feel let down and annoyed that their hard-earned cash was wasted
  • You keep having to buy drinks to appease the growing anger
  • And, eventually, you find yourself strapped to a lamppost and never invited down the boozer again

3. Thinking it'll sort itself out

Stag planning mistakes

Who: Mr Hit & Hope

Attitude: Works on the assumption that as long as everyone brings their passport, toothbrush and wallet, then it'll all work itself out.

Outcome:

  • It absolutely doesn't work itself out
  • You're all walking round a random city none of you know, trying to find something interesting to do
  • You finally find something interesting to do, turns out it's a scam, and you spend the rest of the afternoon being chased by a mob of angry stags

4. Booking it solo

Stag planning mistakes

Who: Mr DIY

Attitude: I'll sort it all out on my own, how hard can it be?

Outcome:

  • Goes solo and books everything without the safety net of using a company
  • A few of the guys flake out at the last minute and you're unable to get your money back
  • Arrive at the accommodation only to find out they don't accept stag dos
  • Didn't consider how far the activities were from each other and there's no way you're doing them all
  • Didn't plan anywhere to eat and now you're desperately trying to find a restaurant that can accept a group of 16 hungry stags on a busy Saturday night at no notice
  • Finally get to the front of the line at the club only to be turned away at the door because they don't allow stag dos

And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
