How was getting to Edinburgh?

“Getting into central Edinburgh from the airport is a breeze!

“As soon as you come out of the airport arrivals, you can easily get a taxi, take the bus or the tram – I opted for the tram which costed Β£9.50 for an open return.”

“One good thing about the tram… no traffic!

“The journey took around 30 minutes to get from the airport to Princes Street where our accommodation was.

“You also go right past Murrayfield Stadium – the home of the Scotland rugby team.

What Were Your First Impressions?

“Edinburgh is a great mixture of old and new!

“Right away, Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile spoil you with unforgettable views of the city.

“While the St. James Quarter mall on Leith Street is packed with bars, restaurants and cool spots.

“Visit the Royal Mile! It’s an electric place to be in, with a great range of pubs and restaurants with outside dining where you’re never far from an entertaining street performer.

“From here, you’re around 15 minutes’ walk from the Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle.

“The style of accommodation is self-catering with a small kitchenette if you’d like to whip up a quick bite before you head out to the city.

Is Edinburgh Easy to Walk?

“It’s on the compact side which comes with its benefits!

“For example, if you’re on the Royal Mile, you’re approx. a 2-minute walk from Victoria Street (stated to be the inspiration behind Harry Potter).

“Once you reach the bottom of Victoria Street, you’ll find yourself in the Grassmarket quarter, which is packed with pubs, bars and restaurants with plenty of opportunities for a cold pint under the sun!

“And if you fancy giving your legs a rest, taxis are easy to come by and the trams will get you around the whole of Edinburgh (avoiding the traffic).”
