Galway Nightlife

Quay Street

Quay Street is the key to a great night out. Terrible puns aside, this strip is lined with traditional Irish pubs as well as chippies, Asian street food and other cracking eateries to fuel your legendary evening.

The Latin Quarter

The Latin Quarter is just the name for all the roads in and around Quay Street. Galway isn't the biggest stag city, but the pub-to-person ratio is strong.

Galway Bay Brewery

This cracking brewery is a 10km drive from the centre of Galway, so it'll take some planning to get to (but it's worth a trip to the 'Mothership'). They do own The Dew Drop Inn just off Quay Street if you want to sample any of their finest drops when you're in town.

Things to See in Galway

Galway Market

Open all year round, Galway comes alive on the weekends with stalls selling a load of trinkets and, more importantly for a group of hangry stags, takeaway food stalls.

Salthill Prom

A 3km stretch down by the sea. Perfect for a hangover-busting stroll.

How to Get to Galway...

The closest airport to Galway is Shannon Airport.

It is a 92km drive (which takes around an hour), but it's more than worth the travel time.

Flights from the UK take between 1h 10m and 1h 30m, depending on where you fly from, so it's a lot quicker to get to than most of our European destinations - even with the drive the other end.

Getting from Shannon Airport to Galway

Bus - You can get the bus from outside the airport, but please note that the buses run only at certain times and the journey will take close to 2 hours. For more information, visit Shannon Airport's website.

Taxi - Taxis cost around €130 (Welcome Pickups) but split between a group of you, the cost won't damage the beer kitty too badly.

Airport Transfer - We can arrange for someone to pick you up from the airport and drop you at your accommodation. Simply select the option on the Galway stag enquiry to add it to your free quote!

How to Get to Vilnius...

Vilnius International Airport is just 6 km away from the centre, making it an absolute breeze to get to (you could be in the city sipping an ice-cold beer in just 20 minutes).

Tips On Getting Around Galway

Walking - Galway is a compact city and though some of its attractions are slightly further out, they are no more than a thirty-minute walk from the centre.

Buses - The bus station and a load of major bus stops are just a short walk from Eyre Square, making it a breeze to get about the city if you need to go further afield.

Taxis - Galway has many reputable firms operating in the city, including:

  • Big O Taxis - +353 91 585 858
  • Galway Taxis - +353 91 561 111

Galway FAQs

Is Galway Good for Stag Dos?

Galway is a great place for a stag do if you're looking for a traditional Irish alternative to Dublin. With lively pubs, top stag do activities and tasty pints, what more could a group of guys need?!

Is alcohol expensive in Galway?

The price per pint is very similar to the UK's average (around £6 for a Guinness). However, an authentic Irish Guinness trumps a local UK Guinness any day of the week, so your pound-to-quality ratio is a lot higher.

Is Galway good for a night out?

Galway has all the key ingredients for a cracking night out. Kickstart the party with a boozy bar crawl on Quay Street and see where the night takes you.
