Why Groups Rate This

Arrival: You'll fly into Kilimanjaro International Airport where a guide will meet you and take you to your hotel. Meet your guide for a safety and route briefing plus equipment check before enjoying a relaxing evening. where you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Day 1: Your group will drive to the Londorossi Park and Lemosho Glades where the trek will start. Three-hour hike to Big Tree campsite.

Day 2: You'll move from the forest into the heather-lands. Today you'll reach 3,600m before dropping down slightly to the camp for the night.

Day 3: Today's destination is Moir camp at 3,840m. You'll need to acclimatise to the altitude.

Day 4: You'll experience seven hours in the semi-desert on route to The Lava Tower which stands at 4,630m. In the afternoon you'll descend for two hours to the Barranco camp where you stay for the night.

Day 5: Today is a shorter day, with the target of Karanga Camp standing at 3,963m.

Day 6: Three-hour trek from Karanga camp to Barafu Camp at 4,600m. On arrival at camp, you will prepare your equipment ready to reach the summit in the morning.

Day 7: Summit day! The final ascent to Uhuru Peak standing at 5,895m should take approximately 7 hours. But what goes up... You'll start your descent to a very welcome dinner.

Day 8: After a relaxed breakfast you'll start the final leg back down to the Mweka Park Gate where a driver will be waiting to take you back to your hotel for the night.

Departure: All good things... You'll say goodbye to Africa and fly back to the UK.

You will be accompanied by an armed ranger throughout the lower reaches of your journey in case you encounter big game such as elephants, buffalo or cats. You'll also pass through local farms and forest stretches where you're likely to see Colobus monkeys.
