Hotel Hafen in Hamburg

Set in what was originally the ports seamen's mission, this nautical themed hotel overlooks the banks of the River Elbe in the St Pauli district of Hamburg, which just happens to be the home of the Reeperbahn, Hamburg's infamous and extremely lively red light district.

The hotel has some of the best views of Hamburg with incredible river views from the Tower Bar which sits at the top of the hotel. As well as the great views, this is also a fantastic meeting point to simply enjoy a beer and to get those drinking elbows warmed-up ahead of a big night out. The Port Restaurant opens out onto a terraced area if you fancy dining al fresco (or whatever the German equivalent may be) and offers a variety of contemporary dishes. Or if you like to keep things simple the hotel has a fantastic burger bar, where you can enjoy a tasty burger, fries and a beer and is open until 10pm at weekends.

As well as the heights of the Tower Bar (which has a happy hour everyday between 6pm 7pm), the hotel also has a pub. The pub has its own kitchen serving food from 1pm 9pm, while the beer pumps keep serving until 2.30am.

The building dates back to 1858 when the mission was created for down at heal seamen and of course where you find seamen you can be fairly sure to find another of the world's oldest professions. That proximity is great for modern party people as some of the best bars and clubs are located in and around the red lights of the Reeperbahn.
