The Places in Prague You Need to Know About

Old Town

As with most Eastern European countries, The Old Town (known as Staré Mĕsto) is the place to head. It's situated on the east side of the River Vltava, and the Old Town Square (Staromĕnstské nám), where the Astrological Clock Tower is located, is a good place to start with side streets in and around it packed with incredible pubs, bars, and absinthe shops.

Malá Strana

Just across Charles Bridge, on the other side of the river, you'll find the Malá Strana district. This place has a range of bars and restaurants for you to visit. If you're heading up to Prague Castle, you'll be sure to pass a load of places en route.

Žižkov

This district, located to the east of the Old Town, has an insane amount of bars and clubs. It does attract a large student population, but there will still be a strong mix of like-minded party people.

Top Prague Pubs, Bars & Clubs

🍺Double Trouble Bar & Club

This place is located just over 100 metres from the iconic Astronomical Clock, so it's right in the thick of the action. The cellar bar/club is very 'Prague' and will see you partying through 'til 4 am on the weekend.

Where: Melantrichova 970/17, 110 00 Staré Město, Czechia

🍺Karlovy

Karlovy is a club that's split over five floors, each one boasting different genres for every group: Floor 1 = Mainstream, Floor 2 = Dance Music, Floor 3 = Oldies, Floor 4 = Hip Hop & RnB, and Floor 5 = Chill Out.

Where: Novotného lávka 198/13, 110 00 Staré Město, Czechia

🍺M1 Lounge Bar & Club

Prague's biggest hip hop venue has had some big celebs partying within its walls (including MGK, AJ Tracey and more). It's located in the Old Town, so you won't have to go far to find it.

Where: Masná 1, 110 00 Staré Město, Czechia

🍺KU

This place is very stag and hen friendly, and a great place to finish your night. It's open until 4 every night, so you won't have to cut short the party.

Where: Rytířská 13, 110 00 Staré Město, Czechia

🍺Rocky O'Reily's Irish Bar

If you find yourselves partying in New Town, Rock O'Reillys is great craic. Look, we know you're in Prague, but the Irish don't half know how to party! Come here for live sports and get that night out started with a bang.

Where: Štěpánská 32, 110 00 Nové Město, Czechia

🍺Londoners Sports Bar

If you're struggling to find some cuisine the guys will like, head to Londoners for some cracking beers, Indian curries and pub grub!

Where: Štěpánská 650/23, 110 00 Nové Město, Czechia

🍺One Club Prague

A lively venue spread over a few floors, One Club is another popular choice for partiers in Prague. It's located in the Old Town, too, so it's easy to seek out.

Where: Melantrichova 504/5, 110 00 Staré Město, Czechia

🍺Duplex

Dubbed 'the most famous club in Prague' (by themselves), we'd say it's worth putting their claims to the test.

Where: Václavské nám. 21, 110 00 Nové Město, Czechia

The Best Time to Go

Unlike places like Benidorm or Albufeira, which are weather-dependent, Prague is fantastic all year round.

In 2023, 93% of our groups heading there went between March and September, and it was a pretty even spread throughout that period.

OK, the summer months are warmer, but the winter months are just as good, and the parties are outrageous no matter when you go.

How Long Do People Go For?

89% of stags going to Prague with StagWeb in 2023 went for 2 or 3 nights (which is 3 or 4 days).

Prague isn't too far to travel, so two nights is ok, but we'd highly recommend heading there for at least three to really make the most of the city.

Fair enough go to a UK city for two nights, but if you're heading abroad, you're going to want to make the most of it.

How Soon Do People Book?

Lads heading to Prague with us in 2023 ended up booking, on average, 6 months in advance which was two months earlier than most stags, according to our end-of-year stats.

But why were our Prague stags so organised?

Well, it's a combination of factors:

  • Flights are cheaper the earlier you book them
  • Prague is an incredibly popular city and things can book up months in advance
  • You can lock in the best deals the earlier you book

Makes sense.

Where to Stay in Prague

You can stay miles out of town if you really want to, but you could just book your Prague hotel or apartments with StagWeb and secure a central stag-friendly stay.

Yes, whilst you might find a cheap stay miles out, you'll end up splashing the cash on expensive taxis just to get to where the party's at (or walking miles!).

Why make things stressful?

Stay as central as you can to make the most of this top city.

All our hotel pages have maps on them, so you can find the perfect place for you that's closest to the action.

Plus, Prague has two football teams (Slavia and Sparta) for any footy fans looking to get their fix - we can sort your tickets for either team, fyi.

Throw in all the sights and nights out, you'll have a pretty solid itinerary mapped out... all that's left to sort is just how you're going to prank the groom.

Things to See in Prague

Prague Castle

Towering over the city, the impressive castle stands tall at the top of the hill just over the river from the Old Town. Head up for a photo opp, but be warned, the queues can be long.

Charles Bridge

Charles Bridge is iconic and a must for a photo to prove you didn't spend your whole weekend sipping those delicious Czech pilsners.

Letna Park

Located along from the castle on the western side of the river, Letna Park has some cracking views out across the city.

Astronomical Clock

Located on a square in the Old Town (Staromĕstská radnice), this is one of Prague's must-see sights. And if you're thinking 'what's so interesting about a big bloody clock?!' just wait until you see it!

How to Get to Prague...

What Airport to Fly To...

Most UK airports offer direct flights to Václav Havel Airport Prague (be sure to check in advance).

How Long is the Flight from the UK?

Flights can take between 1 hr 50 mins to 2 hrs 20 mins depending on where you fly from.

Getting from the Airport to Prague...

Prague Airport is 16 kilometres from the centre of town (roughly a half-hour drive). There will be a number of public transport buses and taxis outside the entrance ready to take you in.

The 119 Bus Line will take you to Nádraži Veleslavin Metro Station (Line A) which you can jump on to get to the centre of Prague.

You will need to buy your tickets in advance from the vending machines at the terminals or bus stops.

The easiest way to get to the city is to get an airport transfer straight to your accommodation.

When you submit your Prague stag enquiry, select 'Yes' when asked if you need airport transfers and our Destination Specialist will get that added to your quote.

Or take your airport transfers to the next level by picking up a sexy hitchhiker en route.

No faff. No Hassle. Just great times with great friends.

Tips On Getting Around Prague

Walking - The Old Town and the rest of the city centre is manageable on foot. If you're walking up to Prague Castle, it's all uphill, but it's worth it and the views are outrageous.

Tram - The tram is a great way to get around and you'll spot them frequently flying through the centre of the city and beyond. You can either pay on the trams themselves or there are plenty of yellow vending machines dotted about.

Metro - Like London and Paris, Prague has its own Metro with three separate lines serving the city. You'll be able to buy tickets at the station, and they're valid for certain periods allowing you to jump on and off as you please.

Common Prague FAQs

Is Prague good for a stag do?

Prague didn't become one of the most popular stag do destinations by accident. With 60+ ideas and activities to book, loads of awesome sights to see (including Prague Castle and the Astronomical Clock), cheap beer and big nights out, it ticks all the boxes you could need for that big weekend away.

What area in Prague is best for a stag?

The Old Town (Staré Mĕsto) is the vibrant heart of the city, boasting some of the biggest and best sights, bars, and more. Head to the Old Town Square (Staromĕnstské nám) and start your journey from there. The New Town is a bit more modern and commercial in and around Wenceslas Square, but you'll still be a short walk to the very best of Prague.

Is clubbing in Prague expensive?

Compared to a lot of European capital cities, Prague is comparatively cheap for its nights out. However, it simply depends on where you go. If you head to an exclusive VIP bar, expect to pay premium prices. To avoid the usual hassle on a big night out, book it in advance with StagWeb. That way, you know how much it costs. Our Destination Specialist will be able to advise you on the prices you can expect to pay when inside your venue.

How Much Money Should We Take to Prague?

Working out how much money you should take to Prague can be a bit tricky if you've never been. Luke, our Prague Destination Specialist, says that budgeting £75-£100 daily will be more than enough and, for stags on a budget, you can have a cracking time on less.
