Nobody enjoys discussing who pays for what.

... and that's doubly true when you're talking about a stag do.

You want to be chatting about where you're going, what you're doing, how you're going to humiliate the groom - not who owes this and that.

Here at StagWeb, we've been organising stag celebrations since way back in 2002 and can tell you all you need to know about who pays for a stag do, so you can avoid all those awkward conversations later on.

Should the Groom Pay for his Stag Do?

In recent years, it has become more and more common for the best man and the rest of the stags to cover the cost of the groom.

Have a chat with the guys and, if it's affordable, it can be a great gesture.

If. It's. Affordable.

Usually, between a big group of you, it can work out as little as £10-£20 extra per person, which isn't bad at all.

However, this isn't the case for all groups.

There's no rule that states the groom shouldn't pay for himself.

If he is helping to plan the weekend and has picked the most expensive activities, a 5-star hotel, and a night out in a pricey city, you're well within your rights to ask him to contribute.

Read the room. Do some sums. And, most importantly, chat to the guys.

Does the Best Man Pay for the Groom?

In some cases, we've seen the best man cover the full cost of the groom, however, this is quite rare.

Unless you're rolling in the money, it can be quite expensive for one person to cover the groom's costs.

What we do see a lot is if lads are heading to a European stag do destination, the best man covering the cost of the flights.

But, again, this changes from group to group.

Should the Stag Pay for Anything?

Don't feel that the stag can't get a round in when you're on the big weekend away.

OK, it can be nice if he doesn't have to pay for anything, but half the time he'll probably insist.

Especially, if you've already covered the cost of his flights, activities, hotels, etc.

Collecting the Coin

Collecting the money from the lads can be every best man's worst nightmare.

Particularly if there are a few people going who they don't know.

If you book solo, you'll often find you'll have to stump up the hefty deposit fees yourself and chase the guys for money - which can be quite awkward.

However, with StagWeb, we just need one small deposit to secure your entire weekend and each of the stags pays us directly.

Yes, we do the chasing, so you don't have to.

The price breakdown is really clear, plus people can pay in manageable instalments to make it a whole lot easier.
