Where to Drink in Cheltenham

The city centre is a hotbed for banging places to grab a drink. This regency town isn't just a pretty face, because there's plenty of places to get down and dirty for some serious drinking. Sticking close to the centre means you're never far from a bar, traditional pub or underground speakeasy.

Amp up the quirk factor with a short walk to Montpellier where you'll find a whole host of fresh and fun places to start the party. For the sophisticated stag, there are SO many wine bars to choose from in this area of Cheltenham. You'll be so spoilt for choice, but you'll have the whole night ahead of you to make sure you can descend on all of these classy establishments so you won't miss out on any of the Cheltenham classics!

Wild men Brian Jones (The Rolling Stones) and Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards are both from Cheltenham.

Where to Head...

Districts

Cheltenham have had the ruddy good manners to make sure everything you need for a great night out is all within walking distance with a nicely compact town centre packed with great bars, restaurants and clubs. Talk to our team about dinner reservations or guestlist nightclub entry to ensure a smooth running weekend with no need to do things such as queuing like 'normal' people. You are stags on a mission!

Must see...

The perfect cure for any stag party morning is a brisk stroll up Cleeve Hill. Get the troops together, grab some Lucazade and Barrocca and let clear their heads with a lung bursting climb. They'll thank you for it later. Or possibly send you downhill fast with a one man cheese rolling challenge.

Pub Trivia

Cheltenham FC is one of the oldest clubs in the country.
Cheltenham Racecourse is home to the world famous Gold Cup and over 10,000 bottles of bubbly are served during the festival.
Over £150 million pounds is risked by punters on the Festival each year.

Getting Around Cheltenham

Cheltenham is not cluttered with trams, punts, Boris bikes or other inconveniences. No, the good folk of 'Chelts' have the good grace to ensure the town centre is nicely compact making everything you need for big nights out within easy walking distance. Even if walking is a little more difficult by the latter stages of your evening.

The Cheltenham Racing Festival attracts 10,000 Irish punters each day.

Why choose a Cheltenham stag do?

Cheltenham truly is a refined aristocrat amongst our most popular destinations in the UK, boasting hundreds of regal connections, world class horse racing and the fourth highest concentration of millionaires per square mile in the whole of the country! There's plenty of action going on here, quality Gloucester rugby and the huge Gold Cup and as an old spa town, Cheltenham's fantastic architecture and spa waters rival even historic Bath! There's stunning countryside nearby which is perfect for outdoor activities as well as a great relaxed pace in the town and an abundance of great pubs and bars which will take you and the boys well into the night.

When to visit?

As a thriving tourist city, Cheltenham has a lot going for itself all year round and sustains a great nightlife at both the warmer and colder ends of the year. However, rugby fans may want to schedule their visit for early May to coincide with the Cheltenham Rugby Festival held in the Prince of Wales stadium, which draws visitors from all areas of the country or for music aficionados, late May sees the Cheltenham Jazz Festival come to town. November's Comedy Festival which has hosted both Frankie Boyle and Rhod Gilbert in the past is also well worth checking out.

Where to hang out in Cheltenham...

The town of Cheltenham is somewhat unique in that its leafy Montpellier Walk is pretty much free of chain and high street stores. Hit up the Promenade, Pittville Park or Imperial Gardens for a relaxing beer with the lads on a warm summer's afternoon or a balmy evening in Cheltenham. When night begins to fall, head over to The Rising Sun Hotel for excellent views over Cheltenham when the sun sets too. Get involved in one of the city's many festivals and then head out to some of Cheltenham's stylish bars, restaurants and clubs around Imperial Square Gardens before settling down for the night in a comfortable 3 or 4 star hotel or even your own swanky town-centre apartment!

On the money

Like any city which welcomes visitors, it's simply a case of avoiding pricey tourist traps which are designed to catch you out. Head down to the perimeters of Pittville Park if you're looking for some cheaper eats or cheeky post-pub snacks which are just the ticket for your stag do!

Action stations are go

Cheltenham stag dos are a bit special and because it's located slap bang in the middle of stunning countryside, it's a no brainer for groups who are keen to get out and about to try a huge range of wet, wild and muddy outdoor activities! We have top quality packages to choose from and we can guarantee that at least one of them will float your boat. 'Chipper Cheltenham' for example is a gentlemanly affair of hotel accommodation, 18 holes of golf, dinner and then bars and clubbing guest list style.
