The Best Time to Go

According to our stats from 2023, 53% of stags who went to London with StagWeb went between March and May.

Why?

Because most weddings occur during the summer months, this gives stags plenty of time to recover before the big day.

On top of this, you're more likely to have warmer weather, so you can soak up the vitamin D in the capital's beer gardens.

However, the beauty of London is that you can head there anytime in the year and have a blast, so don't feel you need to go there in peak stag season.

How Long Do People Go For?

During 2023, over 33% of our groups went for 3 days and 2 nights, which is perfect if you ask us.

In 3 days, you'll be able to dive head-first into awesome activities, discover everything the Big Smoke has to offer, hit up the best bars, and celebrate the groom's send-off in style.

You can definitely go for one night, but you'll only just be scratching the surface on what this place has to offer.

How Soon Do People Book?

On average, Guys heading to the capital in 2023 booked 3 months before they went.

Now, whilst the average for other destinations is 4 months, 3 is probably OK for London as there is so much availability in terms of accommodation and activities.

However, if you want to guarantee your first choices and ensure you get that legendary weekend you're after, we'd advise booking as far in advance as possible.

Where to Stay in London

Whether you're in the north, east, south, west, or smack bang in central London, we can group your activities in the area you're staying, so you don't have to travel miles just to get anywhere (well, within reason, we obviously can't drag the London Eye to you if you are staying on the other side of the city!).

How to Get to London...

Heading to London is an absolute breeze...

Train - From Paddington to Waterloo, Euston to King's Cross, London has multiple stations that are easily accessible wherever you're travelling from.

Visit Trainline to book your tickets.

Car - London can be daunting to drive around, particularly if you are new to it, but as long as you keep your Maps on, you should be good. Bear in mind emission standards and fees before arrival and check beforehand if the accommodation has parking.

Visit Parkopedia for car parks in London for further options.

Plane - London has four major airports - Heathrow (West London), Gatwick (South London), London Luton (North), London Stansted (North), but Heathrow is the closest to central London for anyone flying in.

Tips On Getting Around London

Underground - The easiest way to get around London is using the Underground. Frequent, fast, direct and not too hard on the wallet, it's a no-brainer if you need to get across the city. To find a Tube station close to where you're heading, use the search facility on the Transport for London website.

Walking - Whilst the underground is the easiest way to get around, you don't see many sights when you're below the surface of the earth. Having a stroll around the city is a great way to get rid of some sore heads as well as see some of the city's most iconic buildings.

Taxi - The black cab is London. You'll see loads of them floating around the city and they're the only taxi that can be flagged down from the side of the street (if the yellow light is on). Uber and other minicabs are available, but make sure they're licensed.

Buses - Like the black cabs, London's red double-decker buses are iconic. They're also a cheap way to travel around the city. London buses are cashless, so you will need to pay contactless or use an Oyster card.

Common London FAQs

Is London good for a stag?

With an extensive range of activities for you and the guys to take on, you won't be short of things to do on your London stag weekend. There are plenty of sightseeing opps, too, plus the nights out will rival anywhere in the UK or Europe.

What is the best day to go clubbing in London?

London is a city that never sleeps, so you can go clubbing every single day of the week. However, the best days to hit the dance floors are Friday and Saturday (like anywhere else).

What is the dress code for London nightclubs?

Most nightclubs in London demand a smart dress code. However, we always advise people to check in advance because you don't want to overdress for a casual place.

Is London expensive?

Let's face facts - London isn't the cheapest city in the world. Expect to pay a premium on pints, food, and other necessities. However, in terms of activities and accommodation, there's still value to be had. The average price per person for StagWeb's stags going to London in 2023 was £123 each (for activities, nightlife activities, and accommodation). That's cheaper than the average cost of a stag do for 2022 (£174). For the latest stag do statistics, check out StagWeb's industry report for 2022/2023.
